IJP Editorial Board News - March, 2025

My apologies for a couple of years of relative silence in this Editorial Board News:  they have been very busy and full.  I have also had eyesight problems (cataracts) soon to be fixed, I hope.  

We are now firmly established as an "Open Access" Journal, with the last 17 issues freely downloadable (see the "Home" page; and see also"Previous Issues" under the "Current Issues" tab in the banner above). 

We are, of course, published by the European Association for Psychotherapy (EAP) - www.europsyche.org. Hopefully, all the different EAP Member Organisations: the 40+ National Organisations (National Umbrella/Awarding Organisations (NUO/NAO) and the 35+ modality-based European Wide / Accrediting Organisations (EWO/EWAO), as well as all the Ordinary Organisations (OO) and all the 100 or so European Accredited Psychotherapy Training Institutes (EAPTI) are circulating these issues to all of their individual members: totalling more than 120,000 psychotherapists throughout Europe.

However, a significant proportion of our authors are not from the EAP and/or are from non-European countries, thus justifying our 'International' title.  

Personally, I have been involved in the IJP for nearly 25 years: as an author (my first article was published in Vol. 5, No. 2, July 2000), Co-Editor (since July 2005) and IJP Editor (since Nov. 2011).  I am now nearly 77 years old and will, therefore, soon be stepping back, or even stepping down, as Editor.  So, we are actively looking for people to step forward, or step up, into Editori.al positions. 

Our wonderful Assistant Editor, Marzena Rusanowska, recently acted as Editor of the Special Issue on Integrative Psychotherapy (Vol. 28, No. 1, Spring 2024), and the most recent Special Issue on "Psychotherapy in the Ukraine at War" (Vol. 29, No. 1, Spring 2025) and how people are coping with it. So, she has now become a Co-Editor of the IJP. 

Susanne Vosmer, who has been on the Editorial Board, is now stepping up to become an Editorial Assistant, and she was the Editor of a Special Issue on "Women and Love" (Vol. 28, No. 2, Summer 2024). 

So, there are several and various Editorial shiftings, but - as yet - no direct successor strategy.

We had the latest Editorial Board meeting in March 2025, with many of us face-to-face in Vienna and several joining by Zoom, with several members of the International Advisory Board unable to join because of time-zone issues or other work commitments.  It was one of the liveliest meetings we have ever had and we are now looking forward in several new directions and initiatives.

Our next meeting will be face-to-face and by Zoom on October 16th, 2025 (09:00-11:00 CET) in Prague, so we look forward to welcoming all members of the Editorial Board and the International Advisory Board, as well as any other interested observers.
