Tragically, Dr. Ken Evans, a long-standing and active member of our International Advisory Board, died suddenly (in July 2015); again, sadly, John Rowan, also from UK, another member of the IAB, died in August 2018.  Rodolfo de Bernhard also passed away in 2019.  
We now (in 2020-2021) have to share our sincere regrets at the passing of Mony Elkaim in Dec. 2020.  David Boadella had been another member of this Advisory Board, but had retired: sadly, in November 2022, he passed away - aged 90. Tom Ormay, the first editor of the revised IJP, passed away in February 2022.  Peter Schulthess, another long-term member, has recently resigned (Feb. 2024).

We celebrate all of these dear colleagues for their various gifts and contributions and we also mourn their passing.

IAB Information (Mar. 2025)

Extracts from the Editor's Report: 
We are now entering into our 29th year of publication: which is quite an achievement!  We have been publishing 3 issues per annum and each issue has between 5 & 8 articles: the full list of Back Issues and the list of all the published articles is available here.

120,000 Potential Readers: All EAP Member Organisations – and EAPTIs – also receive an electronic copy of the Journal that they can send to all their member organisations, individual members and trainees. Thus, the potential circulation is now more than 120,000 psychotherapists across Europe. I have recently been in direct contact with the UKCP and the Irish Council for Psychotherapy – as the two English-speaking National Organisations – to ensure they are informing their organisational and individual members of this access. Hopefully, other National and EuropeanWide Organisations will circulate the PDF files or inform their members of how to access these current and previous issues, via the IJP website: “Current Issues” tab.

Succession Planning: As the current Editor, I have been ‘in place’ for more than 13 years now.  I am also approaching 77 years of age.  I can certainly commit to another 2-3 years, God willing! I have been thinking quite hard about how the Journal can move forward. Currently, there are only two people working actively, so we wish to spread this out to about 5-6 people. There are various discrete tasks, like updating the IJP website; taking the focus for the peer-review process; looking at getting more subscriptions and adverts (to boost income); etc. So, we are planning on creating more of an active Editorial Team with several people doing the regular work of the Journal. I am currently identifying and listing the various Editorial tasks. This is part of what I am calling “Succession Planning”, which can hopefully be handled smoothly and easily.

Printing the Journal: We now have established the last 10 issues with ‘Print-on-Demand-WorldWide’ (www.printondemand-worldwide.com), which means that we can now order any number of copies of any of these issues to be printed and sent to any address – worldwide – on demand – at the click of a button or two. This is so much better (and cheaper) than the previous system and it also means that any member of the Editorial Team can now order copies as well. It will help us to make sure that our ‘other’ subscribers (like Libraries, and individuals ordering subscriptions via the website) can all get their copies sent more easily. Furthermore, if someone wants a number of extra copies of a ‘Special Issue’ for (say) a conference, this can easily be accommodated with another couple of clicks.

New IAB Members

   Ideally, any new applications for the IAB would come from experienced (and published) psychotherapists, especially from countries, which are not yet represented, and from a wide variety of mainstreams, modalities or methods; from people working as an experienced lecturer, trainer, supervisor and/or psychotherapist, and/or from those involved in psychotherapy research; ... and who are also willing to participate in and support the goals of the IJP in various ways: (i) by recommending the IJP to colleagues and students in their country; (ii) by occasionally writing for the IJP; (iii) by encouraging new authors to submit articles; (iv) by occasionally refereeing articles, or assisting in getting them refereed; (v) by publishing research in the IJP; (vi) by referencing previously published IJP articles in their publications (when appropriate); and (vii) by promoting the IJP at any conferences and seminars that they might attend. IAB members may also be asked to review books and articles. They will receive a free (PDF) subscription to IJP in return for their active involvement. 

   IAB members could also be previous members of the IJP Editorial Board, who now cannot make the 'required' regular EAP meetings p.a. Please see attached requirements.  We are also aware that some people on the current IAB may be "moving on" in their professional careers and wish to resign: that is OK, as well.
